Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, striking more than 340,000 victims each year, and hundreds of thousands more worldwide. More people die from SCA than from breast cancer, prostrate cancer, house

fires, guns, traffic accidents and AIDS combined.

Sudden cardiac death from coronary heart disease occurs over 917 times per day in the United States. The risk in adults is estimated to be about 1 per 1,000 adults 35 years of age and older per year.

SCA can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Without quick and effective bystander intervention the chance of survival is less than 5%.

The value of early CPR by bystanders is that it can “buy time” by maintaining some blood flow to the heart and brain during cardiac arrests.

Classes offer Excellent Life Saving information to those in your Community.

A well-trained individual can quickly respond to any situation, and offer proper medical care until EMS arrives. Brain damage occurs within 4-6 minutes after the heart stops, which leads to permanent damage around 10 minutes.

Time is of the essence!
